Week 6: Budapest & Halloween

Parliament Building in Budapest Hungary

This week we had something called return and report! It's where all the new missionaries who have been out for a month meet up in Budapest and talk about experiences, advice, and have a training from the mission president! It was lots of fun. A big change from our little countryside Pรกpa to big city Budapest!

My original MTC group!!!!

We got there on Tuesday and slept over with another pair of sisters which was so fun. Then got some fresh bakery bread for breakfast and made our way to the mission home to have return and report. It was really awesome to see everyone again. It's like in the Book of Mormon when Alma meets up with all his brothers and friends to hear how their missionary work as been going! Such a joyful reunion.

Hero Square, Budapest Hungary

Then we went to a place called Hero's Square! It's a beautiful square in Budapest with tons of statues and lots of really cool history. After taking lots of pictures we ended up staying another night in Budapest with the Pest sisters. All 6 of us slept over at their place and it was one giant buli!!(party) I'm so grateful for them!

This week we also got invited to a Halloween party by the family of the son we teach English to. They invited us as the Americans to explain what we do on Halloween. Janos is so sweet and asked us to sing a HALLOWEEN SONG. haha. We didn't know how to explain that Halloween wasn't a particularly beautiful holiday..  and the only Halloween songs that we could possibly sing were "thriller, Ghostbusters or Monster mash.... and we didn't really know how to do that. So he said, oh I have an idea! You can sing the song you sang in church! (We invited him and his family to hear us sing "Consider the Lilies" and they came last week.) We were like. Hmmm. Uh "Consider the Lilies" ?? So we legit sang "Consider the Lilies" acapella for a giant group of about 20 kids and adults at their pumpkin carving party ๐Ÿ˜‚ definitely a little strange, but we did get to explain that we were missionaries representing Christ and that the song meant a lot to us. Then we went into explaining costumes and trick or treating... etc.

Aside from that our people are doing great! Our dears friends just found out they will be having a baby. This is a huge miracle...They have been waiting for this for a very long time. She has been reading the Book of Mormon every day and knows it is true. God really does work miracles!! This week I also gave her husband a book of Mormon! He is atheist and we've had a lot of great conversations.   I felt really prompted to give him the chapter about Korihor and Alma. This verse is so cool. "But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator?" I gave him the chapter and his own Book of Mormon and he said he'd read it! I can't wait until our next visit.
