Week 41: Country Conference and Amazing Friends!!

As mission leaders, my companion and I with the APs had to plan an entire country mission conference! It was this past Wednesday. I think it honestly went very well! We gave trainings, did rotations with role plays, played language charades and other language games, had sandwiches and pasta salad, and then played sports to finish it off. I think it was incredibly uplifting. I felt bonded as a mission, a zone, and with other missionaries I hadn't seen in a while. I also felt reconverted to the Book of Mormon! With a FIRE to share it with everyone! To FEAST upon it!

Here are a couple highs and lows of the week with a super sick story at the end.

- We had an amazing online lesson with G. He played his guitar for us. I felt like we connected with him in a way that I haven't been able to in a while.
-Lesson with V! She had us over for Sunday dinner in her apartment. She made us pasta, she talked about her love life, and then we had a lesson with her. She asked us for an English Book of Mormon so she could read it with the Hungarian one we gave her. Before we started our lesson, V had an idea. We sat on her bed and she wanted to open the book at random and see what the verses said and how they applied to our lives. It was a really cool activity. I'm so grateful for the spirit and how we can really apply any part of the scriptures to our lives. We then taught her the plan of salvation with the little cutouts I had brought.
-B came to church!!
- We had a pancake party for english class. It was not very well attended, but still lots of fun.

- It is still extremely difficult for me to balance media and teaching. Especially seeing all the amazing work that other missions are doing all over the world.

- I want to find a family so bad so that the Törökék (an amazing young family in our ward) to not feel so alone.

- Robinson Nővér dropped all the cake we were going to bring to our investigator haha

Ok THIS is my cool story. When we went street contacting with the new greenies, sister Nelson and I met these two girls. They spoke tökéletes english! (perfect) We tried to meet up with her multiple times since then but It just didn't work out. Out of the blue, she texted us and said she would be in Budapest the next morning. We decided to meet up. She is the girl who said she was super curious about other religions and would love to discuss our beliefs. Well when we met with her, we first showed her the mission home. She commented on it's simplicity and also loved all the paintings! The paintings were a great way to teach small doctrinal topics and explain a lot of our beliefs. We got to the painting of Joseph Smith and thank goodness for role play practice! Because I had to give a 2-3 minute summary of it. She really liked it. After the church tour she took us to a smoothie bowl place that was amazinggg. We sat at the table and talked for almost two hours. We talked about certain standards we follow and the plan of salvation and Jesus Christ and everything else that makes my heart so happy. She also told us she had started to read the Book of Mormon and when she showed it to her mom, she was so grateful to whoever had given it to her daughter!! Ah it was just such a cool moment for me to see that there are people who are searching for truth. Searching for light and trying to be good people.

My companion and I both said that if we did not grow up as members of this church, we would be very similar to this girl. She was so intelligent, and full of life. She told us that sometimes she feels like she talks to this "voice" that is inside her. She does not know if it is God, but she knows it is good. She said when she "prays" or talks to it, it tells her to do good. We wanted to shout, THAT IS THE SPIRIT. We didn't shout that haha, but it was really wonderful to see how much good she wants to do. I pray that God will continue to guide us to help her see how much light and goodness comes from following Jesus Christ and his teachings.

Some revelation I received this week was the importance of the Book of Mormon. Because of the presentation and trainings we were invited to give about it in Mission conference, I studied a lot about it in Preach my gospel. After studying, I came to the conclusion of what the Book of Mormon is to me, in two points. 1.) A testament of Jesus Christ. It tells us time and time again that Jesus is the Christ! That he existed. That he loves us so so much. How many times do we have to hear that before we believe it? 2.) The Book of Mormon is a springboard for revelation. Every time I read it, it stimulates thoughts and new ideas with clarity. It motivates me to be better, to act, to become more honest, holy, diligent, respected and hardworking. It reminds me that I am a daughter of God. It gives me a fresh perspective on my problems and presents new ways of approaching them. That proves to me that God is good, and has given us the tools to succeed. We simply need to trust him and use the good gifts he has given us.

Thanks to all who read this far!! Love you all, and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
