Week 5: HOW IMPORTANT IS JESUS CHRIST IN YOUR LIFE?
I have a talk for you all to read. It's called "Becoming like Him" by Eder Scott D. Whiting. This week's email is a compilation of what I learned in this conference talk as well as some of my own thoughts, and an invitation for YOU!
-Sometimes, we rationalize as we comfortably choose the course of least resistance, thereby burning fewer calories of needed change. What level of effort would we be willing to give to invite His miraculous power into our lives so that we can change our very nature?
-How important is it to you to become like christ? Is it just a "nice idea" or is it part of every single decision you make? If so, why?? Why become christlike?
1. Because as we progress and become more like him we become more complete, finished, more full developed. We discover our divine potential and abilities as sons and daughters of a God
2. Such teachings come directly from the Master Himself. It is through this lens that lives should be lived, communications considered, and relationships fostered. Truly, there is no other way to heal the wounds of broken relationships or of a fractured society than for each of us to more fully emulate the Prince of Peace.
3. The first step on this path to becoming like Jesus Christ is to have the desire to do so.
4. My final thought was what christlike attribute can I work on? This week I asked myself that.. I had my comp tell me what attribute I could work on as well. Ask your parents, then ask them to ask each other! Each of you ask your spouse or trusted friend or companion this question. What christlike attribute can I work on? We all know we're not perfect, sometimes it helps to have another perspective on how we can become more christlike. Imagine if everyone followed all the christlike attributes every day. Just at least TRIED. The world would be a whole lot better.
Not to many crazy updates on all our friends, but we did go street contacting and gave away 6 Books of Mormon! We also had 6 of our friends come to church!! One being a lady we found in the fő tér. She was smoking and had a really raspy voice but she kindly took a Book of Mormon and agreed to come hear us sing in church! It was awesome. I sat by her and tried to answer her questions about the Sacrament.
This Pday I also went to the Balaton! They call it the sea of Hungary. It's a giant lake in western Hungary and very well known for growing lots of lavender in this area!
We teach lots of English lessons and I found a new friend to teach through Facebook! So cool. Facebook is an amazing way to find because we can continue to keep in contact with them even after our missions!
Szeretlek titeket!
