Week 10: Thanksgiving in Budapest 🥧🍂🤎🤌
This week was VARASLÁTOS! (magical) We got to go to Budapest for mission conference and Thanksgiving. Our whole mission (the Hungary side) only has about 50 missionaries! So we all know each other super well and it's just like a big family!
We made it to Budapest after a 3 hour train ride and got dinner with some sisters. So fun! Fashion street is absolutely gorgeous. We got off the metro and just stood there gaping at all the Christmas lights. Then we walked and saw all the cute Christmas Markets. The whole street was decked out in what looked like Tiffany's sparkles.
Then we ate at Hard Rock Cafe. So fun to reunite with other missionaries. The next morning we had mission conference! Sister Rucker sang "I stand all amazed" and it was truly amazing. She's so humble and talented and just wants us to feel of God's love through her. She was on the Young Ambassadors when she was at BYU (which is a program I want to get into when when get home)!! So that's pretty cool. I learned so much and really felt the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Then we read 3 Nephi 11 and shared our testimonies and conversion stories to Christ. We also talked so much about the importance of family and family history! It was so cool to hear everyone's original family conversion stories to the church and all they went through to pursue what they knew to be right. Family are the coolest! Then we all had Thanksgiving dinner and did role plays of being on the train or giving out Christmas pass along cards. We also got to all much gingerbread houses with our districts. We made ours into the temple!
FUNNY
- we ran out of toilet paper and had to use napkins for a day. Then we were going to take some from the church but we forgot... so we had to ask a ward member
She was hilarious though and as we shamefully walked in to get them she held them out and gave them to use like Christmas gifts
She was hilarious though and as we shamefully walked in to get them she held them out and gave them to use like Christmas gifts - We walked 30 minutes in 20 degree weather to give our referral a book of Mormon and they said they were tired and didn't feel like coming outside to get it... so ripp we will have to come back some other time.
Went bowling with our district for P day today!
We taught R the rest of the lessons and he had his baptismal interview!!! AH he's he's ready and we are so proud of him. I cannot wait!
SPIRITUAL
I'm so grateful for prayer this week. There was a time this week where I felt a little down. At a members house I didn't understand what they were talking about and I just sat there for about 20 minutes feeling like a wall. I was praying in my heart to feel like I could help in some way. Right when I did, Ildiko said "Jones Nővér, come look at this!" And she showed me videos of her kids. It was probably such a small thing for her, but I meant to world to me to feel involved and noticed. Prayer is amazing and really works. I'm so grateful for it and I depend on it every day!
