WEEK 25: A VERY DIFFERENT WEEK!
I am serving in the Hungary/Romania mission, which means there are social media leaders and APs serving in both countries. We had the Romania sisters staying with us and we were able to plan trainings and orientations for the new missionaries who just came in! It was difficult to come to conclusions, have technology counsels, and plan trainings when you are with 4 other girls you have never really met. We had never done a training or planned an orientation. There were lots of last minute changes as we listening and discussed different ideas and thoughts.
I feel like I have learned a lot and I am excited to serve here!
Some of my responsibilities as a social media leader include planning trainings, running ads for the mission facebook and instagram page, sending and working out the kinks with referrals from media, and lots and lots of meetings with our teams of other missionaries.....Very different from my small life I felt like I was living in Pápa, but both come with their hardships and joys.
We got to counsel with the mission president and his wife and it was so much fun to get to know them better.
Tiny miracles
-I was asked to give a talk in church on my first Sunday here in Pest. I had about an hour to write it and another hour later in the day to translate it. I was blessed with inspiration and the gift of tongues because it all came together. (There are quite a few American families in the ward. My talk is translated into English... so I gave it in Hungarian, and a member translated it into English on the spot, so cool.)
-The people in the Pest ward were absolutely so kind to me on my first Sunday.
-We were coming home on the metro and I smiled at an older woman and a young boy sitting across from us. She smiled back and we started talking with them. She was so sweet, and just such a loving grandma to this little boy. We gave her a pass along card with our number on it and she was so happy to accept it. They got off at our same stop and ran into them 3 more times on our way home! I think they had a very positive interaction with us.
-Today we went to try a new donut shop. As we waited in line a man behind us asked if we were from Jesus Christ's church. We said yes, and he told us he knew some very kind people associated with our church. He told us that donuts were on him and we thought, "Oh that is so kind," then he walked behind the counter and asked us which kind we would like. He was the shop owner, and bought us free donuts! We then got his facebook.
- Right after the donut miracle we were walking home and a man yelled at us from across the street asking if we were missionaries! He told us he was familiar with our church and that he was inactive. But in his words said, "I still live the lifestyle of a member, I'm inactive but don't worry, I'm comin' back!!" He was from England and got baptized about 10 years ago.He offered to buy us lunch sometime. We had to run, but we also gave him a card.
GOD IS SO GOOD. Before all of this happened I had prayed to find someone that would accept our message. Well maybe they didn't accept to be taught the lessons, but these people recognized us and they recognized who we represented. I'd say that is a miracle and a step in the right direction.
Alma 32:27 "But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words." If you can't see the miracles yet, the first step is to DESIRE to see the miracles. DESIRE to see God's hand in your life. I feel like I am lacking in so many areas sometimes. I feel confused and I want to do what is right. And according to Alma, that is the first step, to want to believe. So that is what I felt strongly about in my personal study. And I invite you to read this chapter, because it gives me HOPE.
Have a csodálatos week everyone!
