Meeting with Hungary missionaries
The other half of the mission is in Hungary. When Elder Bednar met with missionaries in Hungary on Friday, Oct. 14, they spoke together about trust, faith, inviting, helping, pressing forward, ordinances and covenants. They discussed patterns of teaching, revelation, councils and principles.
*A full-time missionary in the Hungary-Romania Mission shares what she learned during a meeting with Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in Budapest, Hungary, on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022.Church New Article:
Some of the missionaries asked about how they know what they should do with their lives. One of the missionaries said as she had been studying Esther in the Old Testament, she wondered how she could know her role in the Restoration, too.
Esther was told she was sent “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). Sister Bednar told the sister missionaries, “All of you women were sent to this mission for such a time as this.”
And as they move from their mission to the rest of their lives, she testified to them that the Lord needs women who minister and who stand for truth and righteousness.
“You can make the most difference by being a woman who loves God and who isn’t afraid to teach and testify,” she said.
Elder Bednar said as they press forward with faith, they will be where they need to be at the times they were supposed to be there. Don’t sit and wait for the answer to come; the answer comes in route, he explained.

Madeline's Letter this week October 17, 2022 There are many difficult things about a mission. One of those things is adequately expressing just how spirit filled an event was or all the aspects that made an experience so wonderful. The experience from this past week is simply indescribable, but I will try my best to put it in words and pray that some of my words will inspire you to take action for your own life. On Thursday night we traveled to Budapest to hear from Elder David A. Bednar.
The chapel was filled to the back even onto the stage with members and friends. It was a beautiful feeling. I saw Vivi again, I saw Balazs looking better than ever...so smiley😁. I saw the Törökék and I saw the Bajoék. Even some people from my last area's English class came, how cool!
We got to sit on the 4th row with the members of our current area. As Elder Bednar walked in and began speaking, the spirit in the room was palpable. The way he spoke was captivating, humble, open to corrections. He didn't act like he was some wise all mighty being that couldn't mess up. He was open, funny, admitting to imperfection but bold and unafraid. He focused on temple covenants and ordinances. He focused on the pearl inside the box. To focus not on the outside and how pretty it looks but on what happens on the inside. This was special because the members here are waiting for a temple to be built. He reminded us all we give up if we don't partake of the ordinances of the sacrament. He boldy invited us to repent, come back, and not be offended.

The next day we got to have a devotional with them and just the missionaries. There on the stand was Elder and Sister Bednar, Brother and sister Kopiske and Elder and Sister Cook. It was so uniquez! There was a SPIRIT I have never felt before, like EFY + girls camp + testimony meetings & sacrament meeting x2 on steroids! Everyone was sitting with open hearts, honesty. I felt like Christ was there.
There came a time when we were able to ask questions. He reminded us what a unique opportunity it was to ask a question to an apostle, 2 area 70 and their wives with a group of less than 100 people in the audience. Would it happen again in our lives? Most likely not. He then said, if you brought a question to ask me today ... don't ask it, throw it out. I want the spirit to guide. I threw away my pre-written questions a little grudgingly, but prayed for the holy ghost to lead me. And it did. I raised my hand 1st, after a moment he looked me in the eyes and asked for clarification, restated it and responded shortly then gave it to sister Bednar to answer.
I asked how I could know my role in life. What does God have in store for me and how can I know it? She focused on the Covenant path. Staying there & being in the right place at the right time. I was inspired to be a woman! A mother, a daughter and a covenant keeper.
The other thing I loved about this meeting was the way it was so spirit lead. No one had talks prepared. Elder Bednar ran it completely by the spirit. He would have a thought or find a question to be answered and hand it off on the fly to any one of them. It was a beautiful example of engagement, interacting constantly with the spirit and trusting and following it completely. When the meeting was finished and he left the room there was this silence......
It was when President Rucker could not get any words out. He held back tears and told us That Elder Bednar had leaned over to him and said "We were prepared. " He could feel it and I felt it too. His words were no longer just in gospel library or in my notebook, but written on the fleshy tables of my heart💓Barely etched, but still there.
When the gospel changes our hearts, and the way we act and live, that is when we come to know Christ. I wanted to stay in that silent moment forever.
Aside from this awesome experience, we met with the two 16 year old girls again. We showed them our branch house and showed them the Trust in the Lord music video on gospel library! It lead to a spirit filled conversation and we asked them if they'd like to start being taught the lessons. They said yes! Woohooo!
