Week 59: Sziasztok !

| My original MTC group from 2021. I spent 9 weeks training with them. |
Sziasztok! This week was amazing and miracle filled!!
I was very inspired by them. The fact that English is not their first language and they still spoke to us with so much confidence really inspired me. Sometimes when I speak Hungarian, I tend to fall into the lie from satan that the people cannot feel the spirit as strongly because I'm not speaking like a native. But when I listen to the Holy ghost, I know that's not true. I just could feel their faith! I was truly inspired by their perspective, positivity, vision, love and resilience. I had a cool experience while I listened to sister Alliaud. Usually during these conferences I feel called to repentance in many many minuscule ways. But as I sat there, I had revelation about something good that I was doing that I should keep doing! And I felt that God was proud of me! I am reading the entire Book of Mormon in Hungarian before the end of my mission, and I felt confirmation that it was such a good thing. The spirit is not just there to chastise, but also to confirm feelings of love and to help us know we are doing what we are supposed to be doing!
Here are a couple things I learned.
1. Agency is the most precious gift from God. If we give people too many solutions, we are taking away their agency and their ability to make the decision for themselves. I want to ask questions, approach situations, and give invitations that make people think for themselves. They take just a little more brain power on our part, but it's so worth it. I love the scripture Elder Alliaud shared about Nephi knowing for himself! That is why his father was exceedingly glad.
2. Look to the future! See the vision. We need to lift our eyes and see the potential for our friends, ourselves and our areas.
This week we gave "R" a Book of Mormon. She was really excited about it. When we met with her she explained to us that her mom knew a "nice Mormon boy" growing up! She had told her mom all about meeting with us and apparently she was thrilled. Our meeting went very well with her and we were all touched by the spirit as we sat in that Cafe. I know there are no coincidences, because meeting "R" has changed my mission and my life!
Some struggles and highlights from the week
-referrals can be so difficult. Sometimes they are so impatient. I let my companion try to call a referral. She used the woman's first name and said I saw you signed up for... and then got hung up on. It's so frustrating.
- But a different time we met with a referral given to us by the elders and taught the whole restoration. She loved it and told us she would "elolvasni" the entire Book of Mormon if it really did contain the truth that Jesus Christ taught. ( EL is a coverb that means completely or fully. So she not only said she would read it, but COMPLETELY read it!)
- we met with another new friend named "B" that we met in the park a couple weeks ago. She really opened up to us and told us she would like to start taking the missionary lessons! We prayed for her and she passed her test on Saturday!
-5 new people came to English class!
- we made connections with our branch president and his kids. We love them.
Final spiritual thought...
As long as we are still living and breathing on this earth, we can still change! No one has to stay just the way they are. This is called being prideful. We can always at any moment in time turn to the Savior and repent. That's so powerful!
