Week 69: Final Zone Conference!

Hello hello! It was a full week! We went to Budapest on Tuesday night and stayed the night for the Zone conference the next morning. We stayed over with Sister Kirk and Sister Smith. It turns out that Sister Kirk was in the same Nutcracker production as I was when we were younger! It was so fun to remember old choreography and costumes with her.

Zone conference was filled with new inspiration for how to work better with members, zone jeopardy on how to use area book, making cakes with our districts ( all with gospel analogies of course.) and sweet goodbyes to the missionaries I won't see again before going home. I really have made some of my best friends here.

Some of the highlights from this week:

In zone conference we really focused on the importance of having members in lessons. The next day we had a member with our friend "A" who wants to be baptized in the spring. Our member Kati is AMAZING! She was very bold with her and helped us to know words like reincarnation which I am not sure I would have picked up on without our member.

This week we went to teach "N" again in Átány. We taught her the plan of salvation and we had a good long conversation about the spirit world which was a new concept to her. She also had questions about eternal marriage and eternal families and I felt a little stressed about being able to answer all her questions. We decided to end by reading Alma 12:33 which reads, "But God did call on men, in the name of his Son, (this being the plan of redemption which was laid) saying: If ye will repent, and harden not your hearts, then will I have mercy upon you, through mine Only Begotten Son." She paused and said how beautiful the verse was and how true. She was smiling and you could just tell it brought her light. The scriptures really do have power and I'm so grateful they brought the spirit.

Alexandra, (the lost member who was living in Dunaújváros and then moved and no one knew for years) came to church!!! We have been meeting with her for the past few weeks to see what she knows and get her back to church. She came and we were so happy!

This week we were finishing up our English class. We decided to share a scripture from the start of the book of Mormon for our spiritual thought. Afterwards we were talking about it with one of our friends who has been coming to our class for a while and we ended up giving her a Book of Mormon! It was a really exciting moment. We have been wanting to do something with her for a while and I feel like things were able to work out in the most natural way possible!

Final spiritual thought: We are really all on the same team here. There are no ward members on one side and non-members on the other. Or missionaries on one and members on the other. The real fight is against satan. His distractions, his lies, his darkness and deceptions. We are all on the same team when we are truly seeking to follow our savior Jesus Christ. This mentality has helped me a lot because it means I can always be helping someone.
